This is an unusual find, not as common, miners usually carry their pyrite suns (miners dollars) as they call them, to the top from underground in their lunch buckets. When they do find numerous dollars in one single piece of slate, it is not feasible for them to transport them embedded in the slate to the top. Slate is extremely heavy, even a small slab is to cumbersome to handle. Miners are already weighed down with over 20 pounds of equipment. My miners have told me they have come across many large pieces of slate with 5 or more pyrite suns embedded in them, but they just cannot bring them out in the slate, so they just pry them out individually. This is one that did make it to the top, it is a 13″ by 7″ piece of slate with 2 pyrite suns, one is on top, the smaller one is embedded in the slate. The owner of this particular find will consider any and all offers made.
